Greetings and ni how.
I am honored to be writing to the Hong Kong Israeli folk dance lovers. It is wonderful that you include Israeli folk dances in your programs and that you have posted so many video clips of the dances.
I live in New Jersey, USA and I enjoy Israeli folk dancing very much I have been dancing for over 30 years. However, learning new dances has always been a challenge and I was happy when video clips of Israeli folk dances were posted on the internet by Les Posen.
However, about two years ago the Israeli folk dance videos web site was shut down and all the people who enjoyed the videos, including myself, were left to search for new sources of Israeli folk dance videos.
I started finding IFD (Israeli folk dancing) video clips on Google videos and on Youtube and I wanted to keep track of them so I could find them when I wanted to look for a particular dance. I realized that many people would also want to have the same information and creating a web site was the best way to share this information. That's when the IFD video links page on bekalut.com was "born".
bekalut is a Hebrew word that means 'easily' or 'with ease'. The bekalut.com web site is intended for information about making things easier, and the information about IFD videos makes it easier for people to find them.
Because I speak/read/write Hebrew I am able to find and identify video clips that only have Hebrew titles and descriptions. This makes it possible for people who do not speak Hebrew to enjoy these video clips.
The many video clips of IFD that only have Chinese titles are more challenging to identify :) but I am able to recognize most of them through the music. It's not always easy to recognize the dance but I have a friend who is fluent in Mandarine and she helps me to read the titles in Chinese and that sometimes provides a helpful clue.
bekalut.com is a work in progress and there are always new dances and new IFD video clips to find and add to the web site, but that is a much better situation than not having any video clips at all!
I hope bekalut.com is helpful to you in your IFD dancing efforts and if I am ever in Hong Kong I would love to join your dance group for am evening of dancing.

Nice to meet you!You do a great job.
It is very helpful to those IFD lovers. We will better include english name to the video clips later.
You are all welcome to join our folkdance gathering in HK. Every Sunday we will have folkdance gathering but not only IFD. In weekday, Monday to Friday evening, different dance groups will have their dancing party in different area.
Looking forward to dancing together in HK or may be in USA. |
